systems: IN THE HOME
The average Australian household generates approximately 1000kg of Mixed Waste per year. Various trials have shown that potentially 80% of this Waste can be diverted from the Mixed Waste stream, which is equivalent to 800kg per household per year NOT going to landfill.
This means considerable savings both for metropolitan and regional / rural Councils.

Many Local Government Authorities provide a garden organics and dry recyclables collection system to their residents.
Question: How do you increase recovery yields of material in these systems and therefore reducing the volume of waste that is disposed of in landfill?
Answer: Assist the residents to increase their volume of recoverable waste by:
- Introducing organic food waste into their current green waste organics collection system, if applicable, or introduce an organic food waste collection program if there are no green waste collection systems.
- ‘Help’ them to transfer their recyclables to the appropriate outside collection system.
Source Separation Systems provide a number of dedicated systems for Local Government Authorities and Waste Management Contractors to assist their domestic ‘customers’ to recover organic food waste or dry recyclables.
